Job Description:
As a Junior Ocularist, you will assist in the design, fabrication, and fitting of custom ocular prostheses under the supervision of a Senior Ocularist. This role involves working closely with patients to ensure their artificial eyes provide the best possible aesthetic and functional outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and willing to learn specialized skills in this highly niche medical and artistic field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the evaluation and consultation of patients who require ocular prosthetics.
- Support the design and creation of custom-made artificial eyes, including hand-painting prosthetics to match the patient’s natural eye.
- Participate in the fitting and adjustment of ocular prosthetics to ensure comfort and proper alignment.
- Perform maintenance and polishing of prosthetic eyes as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation for all procedures and fittings.
- Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene protocols when handling prosthetic materials.
- Work with medical professionals, including ophthalmologists and optometrists, to assess and meet patient needs.
- Learn and apply new techniques under the guidance of a Senior Ocularist.
- Assist in administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, ordering materials, and inventory management.
