Qualifications: Completion of a recognized Anesthesia Technician certification program or diploma is required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.), if applicable in the region.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.

Job Description:

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will assist anesthesiologists and other medical professionals in preparing and administering anesthesia during surgical and medical procedures. You will be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of anesthesia equipment, ensuring the safety and efficiency of anesthesia administration. The role demands attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of anesthesia protocols and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and setup of anesthesia equipment and supplies prior to surgeries and procedures.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia machines and monitoring devices to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, including applying monitors, administering pre-anesthetic medication as directed, and helping with patient positioning.
  • Assist anesthesiologists in the administration of anesthesia, ensuring a smooth and efficient process during surgeries or procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies, including anesthesia gases, medications, syringes, and IV lines.
  • Ensure the anesthesia equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Assist with patient recovery after anesthesia, including monitoring vital signs and providing necessary care under the supervision of medical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of anesthesia-related procedures, equipment checks, and patient responses.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, guidelines, and safety protocols related to anesthesia services.
  • Provide support during emergency situations, such as intubation or airway management, as directed by the anesthesiologist.
  • Stay updated on new anesthesia techniques, equipment, and protocols through ongoing training and education.
