Educational Qualifications
Dr. G. S. Kalaimathi earned her MBBS., from Government Medical College, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. She further pursued her Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO), from Government Stanley Medical College Chennai. To enhance her expertise in Ophthalmology she completed her Diplomate of National Board (DNB) from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
Specialisation
Dr. Kalaimathi is fellowship – trained in cataract surgery, with over 18 years of experience in managing both routine and complex cataract cases. She specializes in advanced techniques such as phacoemulsification, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, and the implantation of premium intraocular lenses. Her interests also extend to neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma, reflecting a comprehensive approach to eye care.
Work Experience
Since October 2013, Dr. Kalaimathi has served as senior consultant in cataract services at Giridhar Eye Institute in Kochi. Prior to this role, she worked as a consultant in the corneal unit at Little Flower Hospital and Research Centre. She has also served at Cooperative Medical College, West End Eye Hospital and Chaitanya Eye Hospital, Kochi.
